Greenedge School no. 2, Summer PhD School of Information Engineering, held in Brixen (Italy) on July 11-15, 2022

The second Greenedge training event has been held in conjunction with the Summer School of Information Engineering (SSIE) in Brixen (Italy) on July 11-15, 2022. SSIE is a renowned PhD Summer School that is being organized by the Department of Information Engineering of the University of Padova since 1991. The 2022 edition of SSIE is co-organized by UNIPD and the IEEE Italy Section, it features two technical tracks, with track no. 1 dedicated to Greenedge topics.  Several EU projects are involved in this edition of the Summer School, so the Greenedge researchers had an opportunity of interacting and networking with their peers from other programs.

How it went: The SSIE PhD Summer School had featured lectures from 26 renowned speakers, two technical tracks and one student workshop (one full afternoon), where PhD students had a chance of presenting their ongoing research. The best student presentations from the workshop have received an award, jointly presented by the IEEE Italy section and by the Department of Information Engineering at the University of Padova. The PhD School has attracted 146 participants overall, 128 of whom were PhD students and 18 from research centers and companies within the broad ICT field. Track no. 1 (around 100 attendees) has been designed around the research themes of two EU ITN projects: MINTS (Ga. 861222) and Greenedge (Ga. 953775). This has provided ample networking opportunities for the PhD students of these training networks. PhD students came from numerous Italian universities, including: University of Bologna, University of Cassino, University of Pisa, Rome “La Sapienza”, University of Messina, University of Milan, University of Naples, University of Palermo, University of Perugia, Roma Tre, Politecnico di Torino, Università del Salento, University of Trento, as well as from Universities located outside of Italy, including: Aalborg University, University of Darmstadt , Technical University of Denmark, ETH Zurich, University of Ghent, KU Leuven, Imperial College London, University of Linnaeus, University of Luxemburg, Norwegian University of Science and Technology, University of OULU, TU Wien. Participants from companies and research centers were from CEA, CTTC, EURECOM, Fondazione Bruno Kessler, IMDEA Networks, IEMN-CNRS, Infineon Austria, Material center Leoben, NEC Laboratories Europe GmbH, Nokia Solutions and Networks Oy, Soitec Belgium NV.
